Core Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist, you will deliver comprehensive patient care across various treatment modalities and conditions. Your primary responsibilities include conducting thorough patient evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions designed to restore function and improve quality of life.
You will perform hands-on therapy techniques, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, modality application, and patient education. Documentation of patient progress, treatment outcomes, and clinical notes must be completed accurately and timely in accordance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.
Patient assessment is a critical component of this role. You will continuously monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members. Collaboration with physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals ensures comprehensive, coordinated care delivery.
You will also maintain a professional, compassionate demeanor while educating patients on their conditions, treatment plans, and home exercise programs to promote compliance and optimal outcomes. Staying current with clinical best practices and contributing to a positive workplace culture are essential expectations for this position.
Must-Have Requirements
An active, unrestricted Physical Therapy license in Michigan is absolutely required for this position. You must possess a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited physical therapy program and be in good standing with your state licensing board.
Prior clinical experience is essential. Preference is given to candidates with home health or outpatient therapy experience, though candidates with experience in acute care, skilled nursing facilities, or other clinical settings are encouraged to apply. A minimum of one year of post-graduation clinical practice is strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are mandatory. You must demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team environment, educate patients clearly, and interact professionally with healthcare colleagues and administrative staff. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple patients efficiently are critical success factors.
Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer literacy are expected. You should be comfortable learning new software platforms and adapting to organizational technology systems. CPR/BLS certification is required, and current First Aid certification is preferred.
